Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 - First Screen Shots

First impressions: Checks for malware in installation step without your permission. Cannot pass Acid 3 test as Microsft announced earlier the opposite. YouTube like sites (most of them) renders weird & slow. Strange behaviours on some curicial services like Gmail (even with their Live Hotmail). Google Maps, Calendar: Brrrghhh ????(Try yourself). Wordpress’s admin side “menage” tab renders horrible. Security dialogs look like Vista’s. Speed: Don’t ask, slower than IE 7. Verdict: Horrible beginning. Firefox 3 is way better, Konqueror & of course Opera…

Masaüstü Televizyon Yayıncılığı: Livestation

Masaüstü televizyon yayıncılığı git gide yaygınlaşıyor. Geçtiğimiz sene Microsoft Livestation‘u duyurmuştu. Fakat sıradan kullanıcılara açık değildi. Geçtiğimiz günlerde Microsoft, Livestation’ı “technical trial” olarak önceden kayıt yaptırmış kullanıcıların kullanımına sundu.

Livestation’un kullanıcı arayüzü Microsoft’un Silverlight teknolojisi ile hazırlanmış. Çalışma prensibi de P2P üzerine kurulu. Bir nevi Sipru‘nun yaptığı işleri yapıyor. Şimdilik bünyesinde canlı olarak; Skynews, France 24, Euronews, Bloomberg, BBC World, BBC Radio, Al Jazeera (İngilizce)’yi bulunduruyor. Yayınların video kalitesi oldukça iyi ve video penceresi dilediğiniz şekilde ölçeklendirilebiliyor. (Örneğin Sipru’da sadece üç ölçek mevcut. Güncelleme: Sipru video penceresi ölçeklendirilebilir.). Deneme aşamasında olmasına rağmen video kesilmeleri, bozulmaları oldukça nadir yaşanıyor. Tabii ki bu durum internet bağlantısına bağlı.

Arayüzü oldukça sade ve kullanışlı. Benzerlerinden (Sopcast, TVU, Sipru)daha az sistem kaynağı tüketmesi ise oldukça önemli bir avantaj. Linux altında Wine ile çalışıp çalışmadığını daha sonra bildireceğim. (Silverlight sebebiyle muhtemelen çalışmayacaktır.)

Yaygınlaşması durumunda, muadillerine fark atacağı kesin. Sipru geliştiricileri mutlaka göz atmalılar.

Windows’u sürekli kullananlar ve bu bahsedilen televizyon kanallarına erişmek isteyenler Livestation seçeneğini mutlaka göz önünde bulundurmalılar. Microsoft ürünlerini kullanmaktan her ne kadar imtina etsem de bu tip uygulamaları görmek ve kullanmak güzel bir tecrübe.
