Today’s Jamendo pick comes from an absolutely brilliant electro band 2Invention of Poland.

Their song “Sweet Salsa” is from the “In Aeternum” album which was debuted in May ‘07. Sweet Salsa is quite different when compared with other In Aeternum songs, I guess it’s the soul of salsa: powerful, funny & seductive. If I have had owned a bar, cafe or something else it would be a very nice song to play… Well done guys!

Finally, Adobe has released native 64 bit Flash Player for Linux, this means you could install 64 bit flash player plugin to Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 64 bit without complicated tricks and 32 bit emulation!

Here is how:

Download 64 bit Flash Player from this link or use this one:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/libflashplayer-10.0.d20.7.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz

Then open a terminal and remove the existing plugin (be aware of double dash):

sudo apt-get remove -y –purge flashplugin-nonfree

Remove the leftovers from the previous plugin installation (–purge option may do the same thing…):

sudo find /usr/lib -name npwrapper.libflashplayer.so -delete

Now copy the files from folder where you’ve extracted to the Firefox plugins folder (or you may just place the file under ~/.mozilla/plugins folder):

cp FOLDER_FOR_EXTRACTED_FILES.so /usr/lib/firefox/plugins

That’s all, holy cow! Native 64 bit Flash Player works!

Misis Mozaik Müzesi, Adana-Ceyhan karayolu üzerinde Yakapınar Beldesinde bulunuyor. Ulaşımı oldukça kolay, Adana şehir merkezine yaklaşık 25 km. uzaklıkta. Yakapınar Beldesine girdikten sonra ana cadde takip edilerek tabelalar yardımıyla rahatça ulaşılıyor.

Buradaki mozaikler, kocaman bir tepe görünümdeki Misis höyüğünün eteklerinde bulunmuş. Geç Roma döneminde bölgede kurulmuş bir (muhtemelen) bazilikanın taban mozikleri.  50lerin sonuna doğru bölgede kazı çalışmaları ve yüzey araştırmaları yapan iki alman arkeolog Budde ve Bossert tarafından gün yüzüne çıkarılmış. Ele geçen, daha doğrusu sağlam olarak kurtarılabilmiş mozaiğin Nuh Tufanı’nı betimlediği anlatılıyor. Zaten gidip gördüğünüzde anlayacaksınız, bir sanduka etrafında gemiye alınan hayvanlar son derece güzel betimlenmiş. Mozaiğin yapımında kullanılan taşlar oldukça küçük olduğundan, adeta bir resim havasını uyandırıyor. Hayvan betimleri hariç bir insan portresi ve geometrik süslemeler dikkati çekiyor.

Alışılagelmiş müze kavramından biraz farklı. Zira müze binası mozaiği koruyacak biçimde, muhtemel sınırlarına göre adeta bir çatı olarak düşünülmüş. Müze herhangi bir evden büyük değil, dikdörtgen bir plana sahip. Mozaiğin zarar görmesini engellemek için bir platform üzerinden ziyarete açılmış durumda. Yalnız biraz can sıkıcı olan kısmı ise tabanın ancak 5-10 m^2’sini kaplayan korunabilmiş mozaiğin, beton sıvanmış zeminin büyüklüğü ve çirkinliği arasında sönük kalması. Yakın zamanda onarım görmüş olduğu anlaşılan müze binasının bakımlılık ve bakımsızlık arasında bir yerde kaldığı rahatça anlaşılabiliyor. Müzenin bahçesinde ise Misis höyüğü ve çevresinde ele geçen irili ufaklı eserler ve bir kaç parça mozaik bulunmakta. Eğer MüzeKart sahibiyseniz, ücretsiz olarak müzeyi gezebilirsiniz. As for me it’s a brilliant book on stochastic dynamics on biomolecules. It’s one of my top reference books. So, I think it’s a must have book.

This is a book about the physical processes in reacting complex molecules, particularly biomolecules. In the past decades scientists from different fields such as medicine, biology, chemistry and physics have collected a huge amount of data about the structure, dynamics and functioning of biomolecules. Great progress has been achieved in exploring the structure of complex molecules. However, there is still a lack of understanding of the dynamics and functioning of biological macromolecules. In particular this refers to enzymesi which are basic molecular machines working in living systems. This book contributes to the exploration of the physical mechanisms of these processes, focusing on critical aspects such as the role of nonlinear excitations and of stochastic effects. An extensice range of original resuts has been obtained in the last few yers by authors, and these results are presented together with a comprehensive survey of the state of the art in the field.

Bilindiği gibi Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devleti, vatandaşlarıyla “Fikir ve Vicdan Hürriyeti” konusunda kurulduğu günden bu tarafa kavgalı. Hatta bu iki taraf hiç barışık bir süreç yaşamadılar.

Kendini, sırf kendisi olduğu için anlatmaya çalışan ve bunun kavgasını veren insanlar, ya kanun zoruyla ya toplumsal baskıyla sindirildi. Sindirmenin semptomları genel olarak milliyet ve din kavramları üzerinden belirdi. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin tarihindeki bütün karanlık noktalar mutlaka bu iki unsuru içerir.

Basın özgürlüğü kavramı da fikir ve vicdan özgürlüğü kavramına göbek bağıyla bağlıdır. Bu süreçte, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin tarihinde sayısız basın organı, maddi ve manevi betimi koskoca almanaklara zar zor sığacak zararlar görmüştür. Günümüzde ise basının topluma ulaşma yöntem ve yolları oldukça çeşitli. İşte demokratik, sosyal ve hukuk devleti olduğu sanrısıyla oradan oraya savrulup duran devlet ideolojisi için ağır bir yük.

Son zamanlarda gazete/televizyon/radyo sansürü açık açık yapıl(a)mıyor. Zira devlet ideolojisi ve bu tip basın kuruluşları son derece karmaşık ekonomik ve manevi ilişkiler ağıyla örülmüş bir hamaset içinde. Nadiren de olsa ayan beyan ortada olan sansür hareketlerine rastlanabiliyor. Bu özlellikle Kürt meselesi konusunda kafa patlatan gazeteler ve gazteciler diyarında rahatlıkla gözlemlenebilir.

Ancak henüz bahsedilen ilişkiler ağının tam olarak palazlan(a)madığı bir mecra var: İnternet. İnternet sansüründe devlet elinde demokles kılıcıyla, adi hukuk yorumları ve adi yasadan (5651) aldığı güçle adeta bir kıyım yapıyor. Devlet bu yetkiyi yasa ile herkese dağıtmış durumda. Dolayısı ile sadece devlet düzenlemesi değil hiç bir eleştiriye tahammül edemeyen milyonlara bu sansür yetkisini tanımış durumda. Lafın özü şudur: Hakim ideoloji ne olursa olsun muhalif olanı sindirip, ezebilmelidir.

En son gerçekleşen Blogger sansürü ise ekonomik çıkarın zedelenmesi ile ortaya çıkmış gibi görünse de zedelenen ekonomik çıkar etraflıca irdelendiğinde ortaya çıkan ekonomi-politik durum bu işin tastamam ideolojik/siyasi benliğini gözler önüne sermektedir.

Söylenmesi gereken şudur: Sansüre karşı mücadele verirken üretimleri laf-u güzaftan bir arpa boyu büyük olmayan elit tabakanın ardında kalan artıklarla yetinmek ve buna bağlı olarak güdülmek değil, tam anlamıyla kitlesel bir hareket yaratmak zorunluluğumuzdur. Sansüre ekonomik çıkarı dolayısıyla karşı çıkan topluluğun fikir ve vicdan hürriyeti konusunda herhangi bir üretimi yoktur, olamayacaktır da. Söylenen söz olarak “Türkiye’de internetin geleceği hiç güzel gözükmüyor” savı ise tamamen ekonomik bir duruşu sergiler.

Siyasi olarak bu tavrın değiştirilmesi ancak kitlesel bir hareketle mümkün. 1984′ün pardon 1980′in törpülediği korkak vicdanlarla en fazla yeni hamaset ilişkileri ağı oluşturulur.

Brand new Ubuntu 8.10 a.k.a. Intrepid Ibex is released. I’m quite excited while witnessing the Ubuntu’s process.

Some new features of Ubuntu:

• For the first time in Ubuntu history, it stands on the latest Linux Kernel version supported with DKMS. No longer kernel driver recompilations after a kernel upgrade. Lovely!
• Intrepid comes with Gnome 2.24 desktop environment with enhanced capabilities of FileRoller and tabbed navigation in Nautilus.
• Xorg 7.4: Finally we don’t need to have /etc/X11/xorg.conf file for running the mighty X…
• Network manager:  Dealing with connections gone smoother!
• Samba: New features are really brilliant (at least for me) such as: clustered file server support, encrypted network transport, ipv6 support.
• Totem’s BBC plugin: I couldn’t manage to run it flawlessly but it’s a nice try to integrating extensive media capabilities to Totem. Waiting for (possible) bug fixes…
